SUMMARY:Wranglers - October 17\, 2024 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, October 17th at 6:00 p.m. for our second meeting of the 2024-2025 season. \nThere has been a slight change to our regularly-scheduled program (a change for the better). We will be welcoming two guests to present this time. \nThe election is just around the corner\, and we’re already buried under an avalanche of lawsuits. What can we expect in the last weeks before the election? And will 2024 be a repeat of 2020? (Yes\, it absolutely will.) Liz Dye and Andrew Torrez are lawyers who break down the intersection of law and politics on the Law and Chaos podcast and twice-weekly newsletter. They’ll discuss both pending litigation designed to suppress voter turnout\, disenfranchise voters\, and toss out actual votes\, as well as what sort of post-election chaos we can expect if Trump loses. \nLiz Dye is a legal journalist who started Law and Chaos to “lawsplain” the current political moment to laymen. She is a columnist at Above the Law and a presenter on the Legal Eagle YouTube channel. \nAndrew Torrez has been practicing law for three decades and has his own firm in Towson representing small businesses. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1997 and began legal podcasting in 2016. \nWe will be meeting at Sammy’s Trattoria (1200 N. Charles Street\, Baltimore\, MD 21201). \nPlease RSVP by October 11!
